Deepak Bajracharya

Deepak Bajracharya

Deepak was brought up in a typical Newari family from Bhinchhe Bahal, a sub metropolitan area in the city of Lalitpur, and had a normal childhood. Being brought up in such a family, he didn’t know how to speak any other language than Newari and after he started his schooling his entire friends’ circle spoke Nepali and English which created a communication problem for him. Unlike the present friendly and charming Deepak, he was a shy kid in school and the type of student who always found comfort in the last bench, hiding away from the teachers. But later during his primary school, he joined martial arts and his confidence began to build up eventually. He had an interest in music right from his early childhood but being a shy kid he never had the opportunity to present his interest at school.

Starting of  music career

He had a keen interest in music right from his childhood and his interest went to such extend that when he heard someone sing or even listened to a small tune, he would forget the world beside him and get high on music. His career in the music industry began with the release of his first album in 2047 B.S. with his former band “Lituluns” and “Chodi Gayo Priye” was the first song he recorded officially. They used to cover songs back from the 70’s and the 80’s and a few of Nepali songs. But his family didn’t support him in this regard. His father would tell him about how people will get their lives destroyed if they blindly try to make a career in the music industry but Deepak never believed in what his father used to say. His mother would support him a bit just because it was her son’s dream and interest and convincing both his parents was a task difficult than actually starting out a career in the music industry.
Back then, there weren’t as many studios as there are now and to book a studio to record for a few hours was like climbing the Everest. If one needed to book the studio, they’d have to book it in a month in advance. Deepak booked a recording studio called “Sano Studio” a month before and started practicing with the band for the final recording. He was so focused about the date of the recording that he forgot he had an exam on the same day as the “big day”. But being a music fanatic, he chose recording over giving his exam as for him music was the first priority and education the second. Most people think one can never make a career out of music and discourage others from doing something out of it but Deepak believes that with hard work and dedication one can make a career in this industry and he himself is a living example of it.
He used to sing a lot of rock songs back then and didn’t have any Nepali music. He had to sing at least 5 songs in a show so he used to mix Nepali words with English songs and that was how he came up with one of his hits “Kali Kali”. He started covering songs commercially performing at hotels and restaurants from which his band earned a certain amount. Earning even a little from it was a huge encouragement to them and something they could use as an excuse and a way to convince their parents that being involved in the music industry isn’t bad after all and they continued their journey in the music industry.
But the initial band members couldn’t stick together because there wasn’t any scope in the industry back then and they had to face a huge financial problem. So the band members went off to pursue their own dreams whereas Deepak continued his career in this industry by himself. He is now the lead vocalist and the guitarist of the band “Rhythm” along with Firoj and Rojan in the guitar and Ricky in the drums.
